The STC18-A supports two-way communication, enabling seamless interaction between metering points and the AMR/AMI system. In addition, it manages meter operations, executes GPRS-related information tasks, and oversees the RF network management.

Moreover, the ST368 unit optimizes communication by utilizing LORA-RF technology for downlink transmissions to smart meters, while relying on GPRS for uplink communication. This combination ensures reliable and efficient data flow within the smart metering network.
